Lata Gouveia

Lata Gouveia

“Stay The Same” is the third studio album from Lata Gouveia with his current band and it includes 10 original songs. The album is cheerier and more upbeat that “Radio Nights” and “Healed & Gone”, perhaps because it was written and produced shortly after Lata became a father. It was recorded at Holtz studios in Luxembourg and co- produced by Charles Stoltz

Staying true to form, this third album invites the listener to dive into Lata’s American Pop-Rock world, with songs and sounds that are reminiscent of some of 80’s greats such as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, JJ Cale, Billy Idol, and others. And Lata Gouveia pull this off credibly thanks to an incredible collection of musicians, including Jeff Herr on drums, Paul Porcelli on guitar, and Daniela Kruger on bass.

Lata Gouveia is a singer-songwriter and producer. He was born in Lisbon but grew up in Guine-Bissau, Luxembourg and in London, where his musical journey started in the mid-90’s. In his late teens Lata was already a regular presence at the 12 Bar Blues Club in London, as well as the Acoustic Cafe? in Soho and other West-End Open Mic nights.

Lata later moved to the USA and eventually became a European cousin to the Oklahoma Red Dirt and Tulsa Sound traditions, Lata Gouveia’s sound always had a tinge of JJ Cale and a strong Folk Rock influence. Starting from Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and Marc Knopfler, it was only after a number of years fronting South-East London bands that Lata moved to Oklahoma in 2007 and purified his songwriting style by living and spending time on stage with Rocky Frisco (JJ Cale Band), and playing alongside Red Dirt Music legends like Tom Skinner, Randy Crouch and many others.

Lata Gouveia moved back to Europe in 2011 and is now one of Luxembourg’s well known musicians. Since 2013 the Lata Gouveia Band has been making a name for itself, headlining some of Luxembourg’s open air Festivals and working the country’s rock venues. Lata was the national opening act for Ayo, Charlie Winston, Alan Parsons, Keiffer Sutherland, Sting and others. Lata Gouveia is also the founder of the Grund Club, a songwriter collective that includes some of the biggest names in the country and is in partnership with the national Centre de Musiques Amplifiees.
