Sometimes the best trips are those that stay on your couch. Leaning back and relaxing with a cup of tea or maybe something stronger. With their debut, Aleion invite you to share a few experiences, stories, tastes, moods and ideas. The pieces quickly develop a life of their own. Suddenly we find ourselves on a hike through the undergrowth of violin and guitar, which should be less about beginnings, goals and fixed plans and much more about what fits, what is between us.
"Meanwhile" brings along eight fresh compositions. From the luggage to the table: three by Jonas Liesenfeld, three by Alex Thinius and two written together. "Liederzyklops", played on guitarlele and Swedish nyckelharpa, opens the album with an unusually light pace. The next fifty minutes are dedicated to the violin and guitar. Sometimes denser, sometimes looser, sometimes faster, sometimes slower - sometimes a wide field, sometimes a dark cave.
The artwork by Niels de Jong and the production by Steffen Lütke from Fattoria Musica give the music of "Innow" the right setting: a violin, a guitar, a room - live in the studio, on an old farm, everything between Alex and Jonas arises. With a last look at the starry sky and at the not quite full hour, the conversation with "Lizzy" comes to rest.
Aleion is the duo of Jonas Liesenfeld (violin) and Alex Thinius (guitar). In 2013 the two met at the ArtEZ conservatory in Arnhem and co-founded the trio Alerusjon. Their music includes everything that can be found between Amsterdam and Wetter an der Ruhr. It is not entirely without intention that Aleion repeatedly sounds akin to folk, pop, tango, bossa nova, choro, minimal music, baroque, renaissance, flamenco, impressionism and film music.

The music of exit is rooted in Christina Zurhausen's own experiences and follows the aesthetic of grunge rock. The band leader, who comes from the rough everyday life of the Ruhr area, composes the band's songs - songs which, despite their clear structure and melody, are based on improvisation and are characterized by catchiness.
Zurhausen's music tells of loving and quarreling worlds, with a penchant for philosophy, in an attempt to fathom what holds the world together at its core. Always the Ruhr area in mind, the experienced 90s and beloved 60s in mind.
It's about emotions that lie deeper and are processed in an energetic way by the well-rehearsed musicians with a modern, rocking attitude.

Béla Meinberg presents his new trio album "Akkolo"! True to the motto "Old acquaintances - new band", the Cologne trumpeter Matthias Bergmann and the Oldenburg saxophonist Raimund Moritz have decided after many years to realize a band project with their favorite musicians.
The Hamburg guitarist Sandra Hempel, recently a member of the NDR Big Band, came to mind just as quickly as the bass player Peter Schwebs, who recently returned to Hanover from New York, and the Oldenburg drummer Christian Schoenefeldt.
The CD "Moodswing" recorded in March 2019 will now be released in September on Fattoria Musica Records, the label of the studio in Osnabrück where the recording was made. It mainly contains original compositions by the two band leaders, such as the ballad "Stray", which Bergmann dedicated to the composer Billy Strayhorn, or "One for Bob", Moritz's homage to the saxophonist Bob Mintzer.
A composition each by trumpeter Bert Joris and saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi complete the album, whose music is modern and contemporary, but always melodic and swinging.

The Doppler Trio is a new German/Dutch piano trio, the trio consist of three young musicians who met each other at the Conservatory in Arnhem in the Netherlands. Together they discovered their love for modern jazz music.
They developed their own atmospheric, narrative jazz sound with a special focus on the story behind the music, which is told every night again in a new and unique way. Within those songs the trio uses unconventional ideas such as effects over the acoustic piano and instruments such as the didgeridoo and Indian percussion.
They just recorded their first CD: Nebula, which will be released the 10th of January on all platforms. You can expect songs from this CD combined with new songs and improvisations.

The duo Dream.box - consisting of the singer Yvonne Dombrowski and the harpist Marie Schroeder - was founded in Hamburg in 2020. The two musicians met in 2018 and decided last year, when the corona pandemic prevented almost all concert activities, to develop a program together to give their own artistic development a boost. A deep musical bond grew out of a friendship, in which Marie Schroeder's classical expertise and Yvonne Dombrowski's vocal use, which is rooted in jazz singing, come together to create an enchanting mix: the unusual line-up fascinates and casts a spell over the audience. The duo's program draws on various currents, which is partly due to the training of the musicians. While Yvonne was studying jazz singing in Osnabrück, Marie was studying classical concert harp in Berlin. Accordingly, both styles have an influence on the joint musical work. At the same time, it is difficult to assign their music to a specific genre. Dream.box is something entirely unique. The arrangements are written especially for the duo.

Yvonne and Marie are now presenting their first album "Mittwinter". Both well-known and less well-known winter and Christmas pieces can be heard in new, sensitive interpretations, which surprise again and again due to their multifaceted nature. In the dark and cold season, "Mittwinter" invites you to make yourself comfortable with a cup of tea in front of the fireplace, to listen and maybe dream a little.

Synesthesia is the perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory pathway (like hearing) leads to automatic, involuntary experiences in the second sensory pathway (like seeing). The compositions are short pieces that feature improvisation in different ways.
When I reflect on the process that resulted in these compositions, my personal interpretation of the Visions Fugitives by Prokofiev comes to mind: Prokofiev's pieces are fleeting, experienced intensely in the moment and then remembered in the unconscious, like dreams in which detailed events take place , which are diluted into memories of strong atmospheres after awakening. Nevertheless, the question whether sound or music is related or connected to anything else outside of sound is unanswerable; the question why people listen to music emerges from within that question. Possibly, the answer can be found in dreaming.
We only realize after a dream that the events that took place were completely illogical and absurd, while making perfect sense in the dream itself, dreams being places of seemingly limitless imagination. When experiencing art, we can immerse ourselves into a moment devoid of the limits of our capacity to think within the boundaries of time and logic, as if we are dreaming. In my experience, my favorite art conceives such a state. When optimally performing music, improvised or composed, a similar state of mind is achieved by the performer, inviting the audience to stop thinking and start dreaming. Besides the piano trio being featured throughout the set I am delighted that two compositions will feature vocalists in different constellations.
The nature and quality of the human voice resulted in my love for the synthesizer that will also be featured in a selection of compositions. For me personally, the highlight of this project is the premiere of our collaboration with Jaromir Mulders, an audio-visual composer who will provide moving visual art during the release concert in the BIMHUIS. His work is conceived in a similar way to the way a jazz musician creates, leaving actual results to inspiration in the moment while having carefully prepared possible scenarios. In the search for intense atmospheres in modern art I discovered Tarik Barri, an artist who I am thrilled to have worked with for the artwork of the CD and LP.
His digital creation uses the sound of “II” as computer input, a literal synesthesia. I explored this concept further by trying to imagine sound when reading the poem Bis by Amsterdam based poet and scenarist Randa Peters, resulting in “IX”.

The contemporary jazz piano trio with David K. Ehlers, Claas-Hennig Dorries and Ingvar is back on stage with their new album. WALDLOS talks about the last few years and maybe the years to come in a touching, deeply moving and full of gratitude.
One thing is certain. As soon as the first sounds fill the room, the three musicians cast a spell over their listeners, from which they are only released after the end of the concert. No matter whether on large stages or in small living rooms. With influences from contemporary jazz but also passages that are more ascribed to popular music, FouFou creates a self-sufficient, free sound that suits a wide variety of occasions.

Good things take time: There are ten songs on the second work of the insolvent Insomniacs. Ten songs that were created over a period of almost five years and over distances of hundreds of kilometers. The influences that you can hear everywhere "between the lines" are correspondingly diverse: in addition to the usual suspicious ska and reggae offbeats, peppered with up to four-part brass riffs, there are elements from punk, rock, dub and world music to hip hop .
Despite this diversity, the seven musicians manage to create a homogeneous and at the same time multifaceted sound and pack it into well-rounded songs. Tight rhythms, dynamic wind sections and harmonious vocal passages are not least the result of a line-up that has been solid for many years.
The songwriting has also matured lyrically: you honestly find yourself somewhere in the middle of nowhere between the ambivalences and uncertainties of this world and, above all, enjoy the freedom that this offers and opens the way for something new. So the second album by the Osnabrück band is also an album about constant change, the power of one's own decisions and the rays of hope on seemingly gray days.

Jacob Fortyhands come from Lohne, a small town between Bremen and Osnabrück. But actually one would assume the newcomers with their unmistakable vocal melodies and their danceable indie pop to be from the north of England.

The five-piece band delivers English-language songs that make you want to go on road trips and mild summer evenings - in short: their songs evoke a feeling of longing and familiarity. Initially intended as a project, Jacob Fortyhands was founded several years ago by Lukas (vocals & guitar), Carsten (drums) and Hendrik (guitar). When the bass player dropped out in 2017, Lukas' brother Jakob (bass) became a new member and "one project" became their band. Till (Synths & Keys) has been completing the quintet since 2019.

They create a mix of introverted lyrics that leave room for thought and catchy hooks that get stuck in your head. Just in their early 20s, Jacob Fortyhands have created a sound that is both modern and creatively reflecting their 80's folk and pop-rock influences, in the vein of The Police and Genesis.

Life in the twenties is characterized by searching for and waiting for something that you don't know exactly what it is. Between endless boredom and oppressive stress, between youthful naivety and bitter seriousness, between bubbling euphoria and devastating disappointment, Jacob Fortyhands find a sound that bundles all of this together as if under a magnifying glass. Preserved on eleven songs, "Caught up in Strange Ways" combines the multi-faceted songwriting of singer Lukas Heitmann with dreamy guitars, hypnotic drum grooves and harmoniously placed synthesizers. With the help of friend and producer Steffen Lütke, a work was created over a period of one year in the Fattoria Musica studios that is more mature, multifaceted, honest and melancholic than Jacob Fortyhands' first EP and thus the musical, but often also personal development of everyone replicates five band members.

"Alright" is the name of the first EP by the Osnabrück jazz singer Johanna Schmoll (born May 11, 1997). In the summer of 2019 she completed her studies at the Institute of Music with the program of the same name. Now the EP (Fattoria Musica Records) will be released in March, on which the young singer is accompanied by a great band consisting of Nils Bölting (guitar), Luca Dechert (drums), Matthias Banse (bass and keyboard), Mechal Bork (viola ) and Pia Schmoll (violin).
The compositions were written by the singer. Beautiful melodies and lyrics are presented in a soulful, poppy guise. Johanna's musical influences from jazz, soul, gospel but also classic can be heard clearly and form a wonderful and special character.

We - Augustas Baronas on drums, Tijs Klaassen on double bass and Josse van der Schaft on piano - recorded our debut album titled "Hollow" last summer in Osnabrück, Germany. We'll be releasing the album on February 2nd 2018 with the newly founded German label Fattoria Musica Records.
We've attended the Conservatory of Amsterdam and Boyer College of Music in Philadelphia and met while studying in the Master program of the Conservatory in Amsterdam in 2016.
While playing our original material it is our goal to find a balance between intensity and playfulness, simplicity and expressiveness. Hollow consists out of originals by the band leader, and is inspired by classical music from the 20th century (amongst others Alban Berg, Olivier Messiaen and Maurice Ravel) and contemporary European jazz music (amongst others Kenny Wheeler and Harmen Fraanje).

Common myths are stories and sagas conceived by humans to connect people to help them live and work together in groups and societies. Politics, money and human rights are among the things we can call Common Myths. They only exist and function when a substantial group of people believes in them.
On the debut album of the Mo van der Does Quartet, the band shares the Common Myths of their musical world. The musical stories and concepts which they believe in and which holds them together as a band. Through improvisation and interaction, they explore the music and try to tell these stories.
The young Mo van der Does Quartet explores the compositions of Mo van der Does with improvisation and interaction as driving force. The band members are among the most promising musicians from the Dutch jazz scene. With unconditional trust in each other, they seek out the limits of their musical world on stage and are constantly challenging each other.
The absence of a harmonic instrument provides a creative challenge - of dealing with both the freedom and the limitations that this line-up creates. After their debut show at the Uitmarkt 2017, they have performed at venues and festivals such as the BIMhuis, InJazz and the Grachtenfestival and won prizes including the Expression of Art Award and the CTA. Their debut album Common Myths is now available.

Their music combines Scandinavian folklore with modern jazz, with elements from progressive rock and electronic music tastefully coloring the pieces on the new album. In the "Snöporten" suite, the ensemble is complemented by a string quartet. The piece was composed in cooperation with the composer and arranger Vincent Dombrowski and the Swedish singer Anna Arco and represents the highlight of the album creates the most fantastic images of Scandinavian beauty in the minds of all listeners.

SoundBirdz is a female guitar and vocal duo from Cologne with Christina Zurhausen (git) and Sarah Tsehaye (voc). They are authentic and free in their way of expression and so their songs are mostly created in spontaneous songwriting and improv sessions. Their songs move in soul, funk and pop and are profound, unconventional and moving, as is their stage presence with which they carry away and touch. The two get the inspiration for their sound from different genres and thus form their unmistakable warm and edgy sound. Christina, who studied jazz guitar among other things, was accompanied musically by Nirvana, John Scofeld Thelonious Monk and feels at home in the genres grunge, rock, jazz, soul and funk.
Sarah loves the great Motown singers, neo-soul, world music and much more. Her clear and powerful voice transports pure energy and in symbiosis with Christina's guitar playing the two groove atmospherically and timelessly.

The jazz singer Stephanie K. presents her fourth solo album. With her ensemble, she uses emotionally complex songs to illuminate numerous facets of life: love, loss, nostalgia, humor.
Eight of these thirteen pieces are original compositions. In addition, Stephanie K. wrote lyrics for three tracks composed by well-known jazz musicians Joe Locke (A Word Before You Go), Geoffrey Keezer (Honu) and Emanuel Hauptmann (Breaking Ice). Additionally, the album includes interpretations of Joni Mitchel's "Big Yellow Taxi" and Lennon/McCartney's "She's Leaving Home".
We cordially invite you to lose yourself in the magic of this "jazz conversation". Feel how Sebastian Altekamp (piano) and Ingo Senst (bass) harmoniously intertwine the themes of the album. Let yourself be carried away by the wave formed by Christian Schoenefeldt (drums) and Markus Paßlick (percussion) and experience the colorful variety of sounds that Christian Kappe (trumpet/flugelhorn) creates with his instruments.

There is music that creates its own worlds. Some are wrapped in a blanket of sound and take you on a journey. Tabeah's music does that.
With her first album, Tabeah releases unpretentiously intimate and big music that is reminiscent of a film score by Sigur Ros. "This album is my quest for absolute freedom, which moves between the playful childishness and the insanely strong wildness of my soul," explains Tabeah.
On the CD "Stars At Eye-Height" (Fattoria Musica Records) each song has its own sound language. Sometimes the music whispers delicately, sometimes everything dances in a witty pizzicato and sometimes in an epic the arc of suspense is stretched to the limit so that at the end of the journey one just has the feeling of having arrived safely. Spherical and orchestral guitar and string sounds, driven by the rhythm section and an unmistakably expressive voice that clearly flies above. They are artistic songs, almost pop, not really post-rock, a lot of world music with classical elements and melodies like film music.
The songs on this CD are almost political but too poetic to limit themselves to that. The giant lion in the song "Poetic Machine" has had enough of the pettiness of the world and flies to greater horizons in his dreams. In "Just For Now" Tabeah searches for her originality in life and sings about the urge to romp wildly through the woods instead of being a performance machine. "Paper Piano" humorously turns everything upside down to see the world from a completely different perspective. Each of these works of art wants freedom and inner vitality. Playful and imaginative, wild and challenging or originally spiritual. The intimacy and depth of these works is touching and opening. You are far away and very close to yourself at the same time.

A widespread musical practice of the 19th and early 20th century was playing the piano for four hands, in order to be able to experience the most important symphonic works at home or in small groups. Brahms himself arranged his symphonies for four hands. Despite inevitable reductions, the full score contains the most important parameters of a work. The listener suddenly discovers many previously unheard details of the well-known orchestral work!
Brahms' first symphony was written in 1876 after 14 years of preparation. Hans von Bülow called it "the tenth" after Beethoven's 9 symphonies. But it differs significantly from Beethoven's style. It is dark, tragic, highly chromatic. Only the last movement is reminiscent of Beethoven's "Ninth" with its hymn-like, sublime theme in C major.
Haydn's symphonies, here the Hob. I: 45 "Farewell Symphony" in F sharp minor, were arranged for four hands by Hugo Ulrich. This symphony has become the symbol of a first labor dispute of musicians. In the last sentence, they leave the podium one after the other to protest against the working conditions under Prince Eszterházy, and with success!
The Osnabrück piano duo Hee Jung Kim and Peter Florian was founded in 2006 after the young Korean from the piano class of Prof. Peter Florian at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences after successfully completing her diploma with distinction. Since then they have played regularly in Germany and in many countries in Europe and Asia. They have been invited to festivals in Russia, Turkey and South Korea.

In the beginning there was the “less is more”. After trying it out in groups of five or four, the young Hamburg band Van Deyk eventually grew into a trio - and they're very happy with it. Name givers Dominic Van Deyk, Robert Holstein and Mathias Blass write their music together, each play different instruments - sometimes simultaneously - and like to sing in three parts.
The band has now collected five songs on their first EP "Happy People" and they do two things at the same time: alert and in a good mood. Nicely arranged, but not subject to any concept. Often cheerful without ever getting superficial and peppered with melodies that you just can't get out of your head because you want to keep them right there. The charm and lightness of the music is reminiscent of the sound of Phoenix or Jason Mraz, the exuberance of the performance is sometimes reminiscent of The Lumineers, while the emotional depth of the songwriting refers to role models like Coldplay.
In the end, Van Deyk sound about as perfectly imperfect after experiences, passion and the friendship of three musicians as the casting show viewers hope so desperately and in vain. But good pop has never been the work of make-up artists, couturiers and cynics. But, no matter how simple it may sound: passionate musicians. And that will never change.

"Personality Standards Vol. 1" is the first milestone in Michael Gudenkauf's and Eike Wulfmeier's joint project dedicated to finding and exploring one's own musical personality. On their way they will meet the most renowned European jazz musicians. Her first journey takes her to the exceptional Dutch guitarist Jesse van Ruller, who among other things is the first European recipient of the Thelonious Monk Award. The band is completed by drummer Christian Schoenefeldt. The first milestone, the album "Personality Standards Vol. 1", will be presented today.
The band consists of four excellent musicians who play improvised music in the best sense of the jazz tradition. The compositions are not in the foreground, but are rather the basis for extensive improvisations by these four unique musical personalities.

Under the title "Day/Night", the chamber choir Vokalconsort Osnabrück, conducted by Stephan Lutermann, presents works from the Renaissance to the modern age. Light and darkness are the central themes of the selected compositions by Palestrina, Brahms, Whitacre, Britten and others, which let the listener experience day and evening, waking and sleeping atmospherically dense.
The Vokalconsort Osnabrück has repeatedly inspired concert audiences at home and abroad with its innovative concert formats and excellent choral sound. The chamber choir consists of 34 singers whose main discipline is a cappella singing. Several awards at international competitions speak for the high quality of the ensemble.

In their duo, Yvoe Ree (voice) and Vincent Dombrowski (piano/seaboard) combine lyrical melodies, jazz-tinged sounds and art-pop elements into moving compositions.
The musical performance, refined through language, fascinates on all levels of comprehension through artistic intensity and loving expression. Bound by their trust in each other, their shared musical vision and their will to express themselves, YvoeRee create an environment of emotional expression that inevitably captures the audience!
The Hamburg duo has been making music together since 2016. The very individual sound of their music is influenced by artists such as Björk, Jeanne Lee, Jonathan Hart Makwaia and Joni Mitchell. Profoundly poetic texts depict stories in paintings, the messages of which have a metaphorical, multi-layered effect on the recipient. Each song draws a new color into the concert program with its own character. This is supported by the versatile, also experimental vocal use of the vocalist Yvoe Ree, which almost merges with the accompanying singing piano lines of her partner Vincent Dombrowksi. The heartfelt compositions offer emotional freedom of interpretation and invite you to empathize and continue to feel beyond the concert experience.
